Red Oak II, Missouri, near Joplin
There is a bright and shiny restored village along an old stretch of Rt 66 just a little east of Joplin Missouri that is well worth seeing.
Missouri artist Lowell Davis moved houses and businesses to his property to create the type of town he remembered from his childhood. Some of the buildings were actually from his hometown of Red Oak, which is located several miles away.
Go there, get out of your car, walk around, take pictures. That’s why it’s there. There is no admission fee, but donations are accepted. It’s a great place to step back in time to when life moved slower. There is a General Store, a blacksmith shop, a church, school.
A gas station and several houses. A sheriff’s office and a lot more.
And don’t forget to leave a donation.
Red Oak II is about 140 miles south of Kansas City Missouri.
