Leavenworth, Washington

old leavanwIn 1959 Leavenworth, Washington was a dying logging town.  Through the vision of two Seattle business men, Leavenworth slowly transformed into a Bavarian village during the 1960’s and 1970’s.  As part of the transformation, Leavenworth began holding festivals such at Art Fest, Maifest, the Autumn Leaf Festival and the very popular Christmas Lighting Ceremony.  The dying little town of 1959 is now one of Washington State’s most visited small towns with about two million tourists visiting every year.  You can read about the transformation at the link below.
