Water tower in Tipton, Missouri

water tower

Tipton had a company called the Fischer Manufacturing Co. that started in 1949 which was a pool table company.  The company was sold to Spalding and the tower  was built in 1968.

The 8 ball was the company’s water tower.

Spalding sold it to Ebonite Billiard in 1976 and the plant closed.  The 8 ball design was painted over as a plain white water tank when the the plant closed .

The town decided to repaint it as an 8 ball in 1999.  It is famous for being the word’s largest 8 Ball.
