Wonderful macro, Iris. When I looked at the first one I thought pity the smooth shiny surface was fracured in places but then I saw the second closer view. The patterns revealed are stunning. Is that actually what it looks like? Leaves embedded on the fossil?

    1. Yes, the only thing done to the photo was cropping. Thanks for stopping by my blog Christine.

  3. this is beautiful Iris. I am an amateur paleontologist ( sometimes :)) and we have lots of these to be found up island as we were once under a shallow sea during the cretaceous and previous. Many bones of marine reptiles have also been found. Thanks for sharing these treasures!!!

  4. PS mineralized ammonite has been made into jewelery you probably know as well- ammolite.

  5. Amazing photos. 😀

These are beautiful photos; the second shot reminds me of a kelp bed. Gorgeous 🙂

I really enjoy all minerals and fossils ever since I had to teach geology to 6th grade students.
